About the event
Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) is an increasingly prevalent developmental condition affecting the enamel of first permanent molars and often incisors. Clinically, MIH presents with demarcated opacities, post-eruptive enamel breakdown, hypersensitivity, and a heightened risk of caries, posing significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, especially in paediatric patients. Effective management requires a multidisciplinary approach emphasizing early detection, symptom relief, and durable restorative solutions. Recent innovations in restorative materials, particularly reinforced glass ionomer cements (GICs), have improved treatment outcomes in MIH-affected teeth. Resin-modified and high-viscosity GICs enhanced with bioactive fillers demonstrate superior mechanical strength, sustained fluoride release, chemical adhesion, and biocompatibility, making them ideal for both interim and definitive restorations in compromised enamel. All treatment modalities for both anterior and posterior affected teeth will be discussed, including preventive protocols such as desensitization, remineralization therapies, fissure sealants, and dietary counseling. This presentation aims to provide an evidence-based overview of current MIH management strategies with…
